It's time to say goodnight but you're not here,
And yet, in my heart I know that you're still near
I feel you right here next to me, at least, that's how it seems.
I see you reaching out to me, or is that just my dreams?
Do you know that when you touch me, you always start a flame?
Late at night when you're alone, do you ever call my name?
When you look out at the stars, do you ever miss me?
Or when you gaze up at the moon,
Do you wish that you could kiss me?
Do you wake up lonely in the middle of the night and feel me near?
Do you ever wish upon a star and wonder if I hear?
Do you listen to a song and wish that I might hear it too?
Do you dream about me every night, the way I dream of you?
Do you know if things were different, I'd be with you if I could?
And if you wanted me to wait a lifetime, I promise you I would.
Do you know that you're my everything? Well, darlin' it is true,
No matter how this all works out, I'll still be loving you.
It's time to say goodnight my love, but I'm not leaving you.
I know we'll meet in dreamland, each night we always do.
We might be 'neath the stars and dancing in the moonbeams.
So for now I'll say goodnight sweetheart, I'll see you in my dreams.
